Stay in Shape and Keep a Clean Home

For as long as I’ve been cleaning my home, I’ve been analyzing the process with my business partner, Amanda.  We both agree that it is tedious and not on it’s own enjoyable.  We also agree that it can be very good exercise to clean your house.  Recently there was an article in the NY Times, I think in the Home section, where they paired up a butler and a fitness expert and had them combine the two activities so that they complement eachother.

Today was one of those days where I was a real housekeeper. Three loads of laundry, vacuuming, swifting, dusting, re-folding shirt drawers for my kids….It was a workout! Shlepping aroung the laundry basket and the vacuum is strenuous!  But I do pride myself in enjoying being a housekeeper.  So I try to find joy in my housework and try to get the best workout possible.  Definitely give it a shot next time you are faced with the task of cleaning house.  Hold in your core, double step up the stairs, bend from your knees and breathe!
