Getting Organized With Your Children

My 8 year old daughter is not naturally organized or neat or even clean, on her own. But she loves to be all these things, she just doesn’t like doing the work to get there, like her older brothers, and most people. Today, the last of the days of the 4 day weekend, we took the time out in the morning, after breakfast, to go through her closets, drawers, toy bins, desk and even under the bed. We found lots of long lost treasures and lots of trash. We sorted through her abundance of clothes together, which made the job less annoying than if we had to do it on our own. Like her brothers before her, she really liked the 2 or so hours we spent together, making her room neater, cleaner and more organized. I immediately threw away the trash we collected and bagged the donations. It was a chore I was dreading for many months and now it’s done, and I can tackle the basement!
